Periodical 16 - Decision Making

Given that our lives are full of decisions that shape our lives and identity it's difficult to imagine that someone else would make decisions for us - substituting their views on how they think our life should look. This issue of “Thinking About...” recognises the importance of decision-making in our lives and urges us to reconsider the historical practice of substituted decision making in the lives of people with a disability. It also offers suggestions about how to support people, even with profound disabilities, to make decisions about their lives.
